Physalis pruinosa. Grown by High Desert Seed in Montrose, CO, this berry is closely related to a tomatillo with an acidic tang and wild sweet taste. This variety is the tastiest one they have found with hints of pineapple. Fruit is yellow when ripe and the calyx may begin to dry out and become papery. These plants do well in poor soils and are resilient in drought conditions. Can be eaten fresh, processed into jam, or made into delicious pies and baked goods!
